works have now started… but with restrictions

Largely based on a letter from Natural England, NGV/LionLink are obliged to comply with a number of mitigation measures. These include restrictions:  limiting some intrusive works that might disturb breeding birds to September and October in any year; relating to the transportation of equipment for borehole ‘B’ along the beach from Dunwich and to the use of acoustic barriers around equipment.

We believe that the response from residents, the WPC and the WCLC contributed to East Suffolk Council putting these mitigation measures in place (see formal notice below).  WALL is now taking legal advice as to how these mitigation measures will impact on the groundworks that NGV LionLink proposed.  In particular, we are seeking to identify how the limitations to working in September and October will impact on the different the types of groundworks and their location.

In the meantime, LionLink have deployed their drilling teams and other GI workers at the borehole sites in the caravan park and beach as well as in Manor and Track fields to expedite as much work as they during October.

Once we have a clearer understanding of the position we will post further updates via the WALL website and WhatsApp.

It’s hugely helpful if people can post photos and updates about the GI works so we can monitor what is going on and ensure compliance with the environmental protection measures that have been laid down.

WALL, with your support, is ready to carry on that fight.  Thank You.
